Mckensi Scy Pascall – 2026 Cohort
I Am SOUL Playwright Residency
Mckensi Scy Pascall (they/she) is a New York based Playwright and AEA
Performing Artist from Trinidad and Tobago. Her teenage immigration has
shaped her curiosity for people, stories and journeys that traverse space and
time. She views time as if it were layers of the Earth and writes like an
archaeologist, digging beneath the surface to find the remnants of truths
that lead to story. She uses writing as a vessel of connection and empathy and
writes with intention, knowing that this act is an immense force against
oppression and that the circulation of stories is an ancient practice.
Mckensi is currently a Playwriting Teaching Artist for Public Works at The
Public Theater and a 2024/2025 CUNY Tow Fellow for The Public Theater’s
Mobile Unit. They are a 2026 Edward F Albee Foundation Writing Fellow/
Artist-in-Residence and a Finalist for the 2025 Playwrights’ Center Core
Apprenticeship Program. Their One Act, EBONY is a 2026 Region 1 (New
England and New York) Winner of the John Cauble Outstanding Short Play
Award. She is honored to be creating with community at this artistic home as
part of the National Black Theatre’s I AM SOUL Playwright Residency.
Mckensi has an MFA in Creative Writing for Stage and Screen (2024) from
Lesley University in Cambridge MA, studied abroad with the Dylan Thomas
Summer School for Creative Writing at the University of Wales Trinity St. David
and has an Acting BFA from Brooklyn College (2022) kensiscy.com @mckensii
