Raz Golden – 2026 Cohort
SOUL Directing Resident
Raz Golden is a director of theatre, film, and audio. His work employs fiction to seek out the strange truths embedded in our history and the world around us. With a deep belief in art’s ability to illuminate complex subjects like anthropology, public policy and the natural sciences, his process employs investigative research, collage, spectacle, and heightened language to define and disrupt the distance between the realities of our outer world and the imaginations of our inner ones.
Raz has developed new and classical work with Clubbed Thumb, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Playwright’s Realm, Playwrights’ Horizons, Red Bull Theatre, Second Stage, the Mercury Store, the Public Theatre, Juilliard Drama, and NYU Tisch. He is currently a commissioned artist under the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and was a 2023 NYTW 2050 Fellow and a 2019 Drama League Classical Directing Fellow. He has directed music videos for indie music artists and helped create several radio plays for WNYC studios.
