Where Education Meets Community Needs.

Inspired by our founder’s belief that we are all life-long learners, NBT’s unique approach to education centers alternative learning programs for all ages that centers our healing arts and social impact pedagogy through classes, curated seminars, workshops, professional development opportunities, dramaturgical content, and curriculum. Our practice integrates community-based learning to empower, equip, and enrich the lives of all participants.

Our Approach

We use theatre as a means to educate, enrich, entertain, empower, and inform national consciousness around
the social issues impacting our communities.

NBT uses the power of community and the arts as a way to peer into the social issues of the time to help resuscitate the possible answers and to empower us to face these conversations head on. By creating and producing an interactive learning space that specifically addresses issues of narrative change and justice reform, we create national, multi-generational impact through artistic expression.

Dramaturgical content

We produce transformational and dialogue-generative creative experiences that helps shift inaccuracies around African Americans' cultural identity by telling intersectional stories of Black life.

Drawing from the themes of the signature works we produce, NBT creates unique content experiences that illuminate the social impact that underscores the answer to the question: “why now?” This visual artistic response captures and deepens conversations around the piece. Our approach helps to center the public good and immerses audiences in a creative journey that draws on contemporary issues that impact the community today. The goal is to stimulate dialogue, inspire participation, encourage questions, and push audiences to check in with their privilege, bias, and blind spots. helps create transformative possibilities for deeper understanding, healing, and connection.
