Let’s party! Let’s dance! Let’s capture our beauty! This party/celebration concludes the Conflux weekend. Forged out of a quote (“Learn to love yourself”) from National Black Theatre’s founder Dr. Barbara Ann Teer, this 4–5 hour creative installation is meant to animate Teer’s teachings/legacy and be a call to action to transcend oppression. Utilizing silent disco technology, DMV DJs will take us on a sonic landscape of contemporary Black music (house music, hip hop, R&B, and more) as it connects to the African diaspora. We will also have a professional photographer there to take stylizes self portraits free for community members to have and enjoy.
