Tré Cotten – 2026 KSA

Playwright

Tré Cotten is an Eastern North Carolina-born playwright, dialect designer, and educator writing where Black and Indigenous memory meets the future. His work begins with language: what survives, what is silenced, what we pass around the table. He created The Human Mortals Project through collegiate and devised development. Its initial narrative musical, Caesar ’43! The Remix at Roman’s, decolonizes Shakespeare’s canon through jazz, hip hop, and theatrical glitch. An NY & LA Times-featured dialect designer, credits include NBT’s Purlie Victorious, One Night in Miami, The Porter, and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington, where he teaches Screen Acting.
