DC Edition of Learn to Love Yourself: Silent Disco & Portrait Series

A community-oriented event that brings art to the PEOPLE.!

Let’s party! Let’s dance! Let’s capture our beauty! This party/celebration concluded the Conflux week of programing at The John F. Kennedy Center. Forged out of a quote (“Learn to love yourself”) from National Black Theatre’s founder Dr. Barbara Ann Teer, this 4–5 hour creative installation was meant to animate Teer’s teachings/legacy and be a call to action to transcend oppression. Utilizing silent disco technology, DMV DJ : DJ K-Meta took us on a sonic journey of contemporary Black music. We will also had two professional photographers there to take stylizes self portraits free for community members to have and enjoy.

The Event was apart of the The Gathering: A Space for Narrative Change
